Today is bring your Human to work day!

Bring your Human to work day!
Today is a very exciting day! First, I woke up snuggled next to my Human's head and neck......I was so WARM! Maddie likes sleeping at the foot of the bed, but I like it better on the pillows.
When we got back from our morning walk, our Humans dressed us in our costume's and dad took us to work! I guess today is take your Human to work day!
Dad has a great office! Everyone is so nice and we have met some really cool friends. One of the Humans gave us two treats this morning! We really liked her and hope to see her later on today:)

I guess Dad has to work today, so he has kept us locked in is office with him:( We want to get out and run around with all our other friends and the other Humans. I guess if I ever get to hire somedog, I will know what questions to ask since he has been doing interviews all morning.

There is a rummor with the other dogs that there is a contest at lunch time......woohoo...we love contests! I dont know what the contest is for, but we love contests! I wish they would have a contest for how many poles a dog can mark in one walk. I am really good at that! Maddie gets mad because I stop so much.....but HEY - I need to mark my territory so everyone knows who is boss!

Our Human took some video of us in the office. I am so much faster than Maddie on video......but in real life, she is faster than me:)

Another Fun Day at the beach!

SATURDAY SHOULD ALWAYS BE BEACH DAY!

Today we went to Ocean Beach in San Francisco! Maddie stayed near our Humans most of the day, but I ran all over the place! I met a ton of new friends, played in the ocean, and played fetch for about an hour! It was so much fun!

Here is a video of the beach today:

This video is fun - focus on the sand next to my feet......focus on the sand next to my feet....

POW....watch me JUMP!!!

We are going back to the beach tomorrow! I am soooooo excited!

From the Mind of Maddie

Saturday Morning FUN!
I just had a wonderful time a the park. My humans woke up early and took us to the park behind our apartment. We played with about 10 other dogs for about an hour. I had fun with Frodo, Sasha, and Lucky...........and of course my dorky brother.

Yesterday was a big day - we went to the beach in the morning then hung out all day. I have been on a doggie diet lately to make sure I look good in my fur on the beach. All the boy dogs check me out all the time......however sometimes they take it too far when they try to sniff my butt. It reminds me of going to the shore in Jersey......those boys have no boundaries!

When we got home yesterday - mom gave us a nice bath. She used Doggie Bed Head shampoo and Cover Dog conditioner to make sure our fur stays silky and smooth. I wanted her to do my nails too, but I guess that would be too much to ask...ugghhhh :)

Don't tell mom, but Dad took us to the park today where we rolled around in the wet grass. It was so much fun and we were soaked! Dexter is a little shorter than I am, so his belly was all WET! Sometimes we roll around in the wet grass, then go jump in other humans laps. It's so funny to watch them as they realize we are all wet. I think the humans first thought is "WOW, so friendly and cute" then it turns too "Ah....they are all wet".....I personally think it is funny.

Well, that is my update for today. I think I am going to have a doggie latte then take a nap.

Have a tail wagging day!

Quick Update from the Desk of Dex

Hi you faithful Jack followers - I know it's been awhile since we've updated our site but we've been really busy around here making friends, sniffing fellow canine's and licking as many humans as we can. After all, that IS the proper greeting for our human friends. Mom and Dad enrolled us in a weekly playgroup so 3 days a week, we get to go to the park in this huge van full of other pups like us and play and play and play! It's awesome! I especially love sniffing out my 'spots' and making my 'mark' if you know what I mean...Mom had to have a talk with the owner of the van about it but I'm pretty sure everything's good there - after all, I'm a dog, I'm supposed to mark my territory, right?

I've been trying to teach Maddie to behave better during our daily wrestling matches. She's been a bit snappy lately - doesn't like me trying to sit on top of her for some reason. She's a smart one, my sister...she's started hiding my toys underneath her on the sofa and she won't let me have them no matter how much I try to convince her to give them back. She falls asleep on them and then I get in trouble from Mom and Dad for trying to get my toy back and disturbing her - it's soooo unfair!

Let's see - don't have much else going on, I don't guess. We've got some crazy neighbor dog that's moved into our hall - he's driving me nuts! He's huge and thinks he owns the place so everytime I know he's in the hall, me and Maddie start yelling at him as loud as we can through the door. So far he's stuck around but I'm hoping he gets the hint sometime soon. I can't believe we have to share this floor with another canine - ridiculous, clearly Mom and Dad didn't work that out very well in the lease.
Here's a couple of updated pictures of me and Maddie - until next time, best wags and wishes from the Desk of Dexter!

Note from Mom about our beach day at Fort Funston

A few weeks ago we took Madd and Dex for their first trip to the beach!

We took them to Fort Funston which is, quite frankly, a dog's dreamland. Fort Funston is this giant strip of land with beaches, cliffs, forest, trails...it's an amazing place to let the pups run free (off-leash) and tap into their curiosity. They have free reign of the park and can run and play and investigate at their leisure while Mom and Dad take in the sites and get quite a bit of exercise hiking up and down hills and through the sandy beach. =)

Below you can see the pups were anxiously awaiting their destination...we were prepared with a sheet already protecting our seats pre-beach.

At first glance while piling out of the car, the views around us were just gorgeous...the pictures below don't do this place justice but hopefully you can get an idea of just how beautiful it is.

Fort Funston isn't only a place for pups to play, it's also a place for human folk to partake in some pretty crazy beach activities including......hand-gliding! Because there are so many cliffs in this area I guess it makes for a great place for hand gliders to come out and enjoy their favorite hobby.

As we began walking down towards the beach area from 'way up,' at first glance I was totally intimidated. I could envision me rolling down this steep sandy path and landing in the middle of the ocean below as Maddie and Dexter raced after me to lick my face - easy access when I'm lying face up on the beach..........BUT THANKFULLY, that didn't happen! =) It was totally worth the climb (down and up) because the pups had soooo much fun!

Doesn't it look like they're both smiling in the picture below? I like to think they're saying 'Thanks for bringing us here Mom - this place is awesome!' =)

Contrary to what you might think, beaches are chilly in San Francisco in July...I'm sure you can tell by our attire below.Marc (below) trying to get Dex to sit still so I can take a picture of how INCREDIBLY DIRTY he was!

Two happy Jacks (in pics below) enjoying their new, giant park
Action Shots! =)
Dexter fighting Marc (below) for the ball... Maddie was supervising.

These next few pictures are my favorite from the day...it was so beautiful out and we were able to get some pretty awesome pictures of the two of them. Some of these might be frame -worthy, I think... The first picture below I titled 'Where's Dexter?'

After lots of running and playing, the dogs weren't the only ones who were dirty...we got caught up in the tide coming in and were soaked from about mid-shin down! Hard to tell in the picture (below) but trust me, we were WET!

Remember I mentioned our climbing down and 'up'? Well, below you can see a picture of the trail we had to hike up with the pups after our adventurous day on the beach. My legs were screaming at me most of the way up. =)

These are looking back while on the path - catching a little bit of a breath and using the excuse, 'I need to take a picture'... =)

We had a great time and will definitely be heading back to Fort Funston soon. It was another peaceful day and so beautiful out playing on/in the Pacific. I am pretty sure that Madd and Dex have officially learned what the word 'beach' mean and will be begging to go back soon. We have some videos we took while we were out there that I'll download later...for now, enjoy the pictures!

Notes From The Humans - July 6, 2009

Maddie and Dexter have settled into their new home quite nicely (as you'll see from the pictures below) and continue to be a constant source of entertainment in our household. We've been working with them a lot on walking 'off leash' and 'recall' as that's the 'california way' around here. There's a small grassy area behind our apartment where neighborhood dogs gather to run and play and...as maybe you suspected...there's no fence. This puppy Mom gets totally stressed out letting them off the leash and actually trusting them to listen to me...Marc is a lot better - he's been doing a great job working with them and they are listening to him well... As in NYC, they've helped us to quickly meet several new friends, the majority of which are dog owners...all super friendly and welcoming.

These two have turned into even bigger characters through this moving transition - we love to watch them play/fight/play and to see Maddie as she puts Dexter in check and reminds him who's really boss around the house. Maddie's even learned to pick up her water bowl and toss it across the floor when she wants more...their communication skills are really developing. =) Dexter has made himself a new hiding spot under the guest bed AND more importantly, the new couch. Funniest part about this is that once he's under there, he can't seem to squeeze out so we begin to hear low whiny tones (aka cries for help) coming from under the couch and we have to move the couch to get him out... It's constant fun here with the 'Maddie and Dexter Show'. =)

Below are a few pictures we've taken around the apartment as Madd and Dex have 'made themselves at home'.

This is normally how the day starts - see those looks of expecatation...like 'Mom, seriously when are you or Dad going to take us out for our walk???'

After morning walk and some play group time, they will crash for the majority of the day...lends to the question...who came up with the phrase 'working hard as a dog?'....I want that job...
Curious as always, they LOVE the giant windows and new furniture they can jump on to watch people (and cars and trains, etc.) all day long...lol...

The picture below is the sweet behavior that most don't get to see - all cuddled up together, cleaning each other and snuggling while they snooze...soooo cute.
After a day of walks and playing and napping, these are the looks I begin to get around 3 or 4 in the afternoon - along with a low and consistent whine BEGGING for attention, love, play with the tennis ball, etc...

Above is the new food bowls I got for them - LOVE THIS PIECE...we actually ordered it from http://www.etsy.com/ - what a great way to find a one of a kind a doggie bowl and holder!

Here are our munchkins after a long day of food, fun and play - so precious...recharging their batteries...nothing like sibbling love. =)

I think I can say that Maddie and Dexter are going to be great California Poochies and fit in quite nicely in their new neighborhood...now we have to get them some San Fran Giants jersey's so they'll really 'fit in'. =)

FIRE DRILL!
Today was an exciting day for me and Maddie! Our Humans had a friend in town and he was pretty cool. We basically just played in the apartment, chased after the ball, begged for treats, and laid around......tough life - we know!

Around 11am this morning we were hanging with our new Human friend Chris and the Fire Alarm started screaming in the building. It was telling everyone to evacuate.....whatever that means. We had never been on a walk with our new human friend, but for some reason when the alarm was going off, he wanted to take us on a walk. He did a pretty good job, but the elevator was not working, so he wanted to take us down the stairs - which is ok, but my sister Maddie does not do stairs. It was kinda funny because Maddie was protesting the stairs like a little diva and Chris was desperately trying to talk her in to walking down the stairs. After a few minutes of begging her to come down the stairs, he finally picked her up and carried her down 6 flights of stairs! HAHAHAHA what a silly human!

Mimi and Poppi are coming into town tonight, so we have an action packed weekend! We are going to take a bath, so I have to stop writing. This weekend I will update our blog with details about summer camp.......................it's so much fun!
